Shrewsbury, a historic market town in Shropshire, is a mixture of shops, eateries, bars and other attractions, just a 50 minute drive from Ashlea Pools.
The town’s history dates back to Medieval times with the town home to over 660 historic listed buildings including Shrewsbury Castle, Shrewsbury Abbey and famous residents such as Charles Darwin and Wilfred Owen.
Not to be missed events in the calendar include the summer concerts at The Quarry and the oldest and largest horticultural show in the country, Shrewsbury Flower Show.
With plenty of places to visit, the whole family will love Shrewsbury whether watching something at Theatre Severn, or exploring the quirky side streets and shops.
The 150-mile route takes walkers through spectacular countryside enabling them to enjoy unequalled views across our county and neighbouring counties.
Along the way are pretty rural churches, castle ruins and other historic features together with country inns and farmhouses offering bed and breakfast.
Whether you walk the entire route in one continuous journey, choose small sections at a time, or simply retrace your footsteps over the bits you like best, we believe there is no finer way to enjoy the beauty of our county than from the Herefordshire Trail
You can start the Herefordshire Trail right by Ashlea Pools, in Hopton Heath as its right on our doorstep.
Just a short drive from Ashlea Pools, The Grove Golf and Bowling Club offers a superb day out for all ages. Enjoy a relaxing round on the beautifully maintained 9-hole golf courses (or play both as a full 18-hole challenge), complete with a floodlit driving range and modern golf simulator.

Set in a glorious rural environment in Hereford, you have a unique opportunity for a close encounter with many rare, miniature and very special friendly animals. Particular favourites are the miniature Zebu, the worlds smallest breed of cow, and the Ouessants, the most diminutive of all sheep.
There are also a few miniature horses and donkeys and the ‘hands on’ experience is actively encouraged, you can even feed some of them with the specially formulated food.
Ashlea Pools encourages its guests to visit the Small Breeds Farm Park and Owl Centre as it’s only half an hour away in the car, and you get to see some animals that you wouldn’t necessarily see when you’re ‘out & about’.
Go Ape is the UK’s number one forest adventure. Days out at Go Ape are about living life a little more adventurously, having fun with friends and family and getting in touch with your inner Tarzan.
If you’re an adrenaline seeker then you are heading to the right place, the nearest Go Ape forest (Wyre Forest) is a 45 minute drive from Ashlea Pools.
